Aromatherapy is a holistic therapy taking account of the mind, body and spirit of the person seeking help, as well as their lifestyle, relationships and eating patterns. Aromatherapy Massage is probably one of the most sought after complementary therapies, because of its therapeutic qualities. Massage during pregnancy is both nurturing for the mother but also the baby. When you combine the use of Aromatherapy oils with massage you are actually getting two therapies in one. Massage on its own just using carrier oil has many benefits, but when you combine the two, the client can heal much quicker, because of the many benefits of the oils. Some of the benefits are:
- Muscle relaxation
- Improved tone
- Lymphatic drainage
- Helps the body detoxify
- Excellent for dry and oily skin
- Sedative, calming and invigoratin
After taking a full case history of the client, I can choose which oils I feel would be most beneficial at that time, whether the client needs healing on a mental, emotional, spiritual or physical level.
Many people choose Aromatherapy massage as their relaxation therapy. A lot of people training for marathons choose Aromatherapy Massage because of the benefits of the oils pre and post runs. Blends can also be made up for them to use on themselves.
Some people choose to have massage to invigorate them and again the selection of oils would reflect this.
If a client was stressed, overtired and generally run down, the choice of oils, combined with massage would help the body relax, so it could repair. I can also combine Deep Tissue Cupping, Reiki and Crystals with this therapy.
